Information for students with disabilities and chronic diseases

General information

Students of the University of Warsaw are responsible for looking for help in case of difficulties caused by their disability or health condition. They should specify reasons of their problems and a sort of expected assistance.

A student who reports his or her request for help in the Office is obliged to:

  • claim for oneself,
  • express his or her needs in writing,
  • provide his or her current contact data,
  • provide his or her current medical documentation in case when:
    • a health condition changes,
    • the presented documentation gets prescribed,
    • # a health condition is unstable (persons with mental disorders, or with addictions)
  • report their requests in a proper advance or as soon as a problem arises.

A student is eligible for:

  • the right to inspect his or her documents deposited in the Office,
  • the right to inspect all documents submitted by the Office that refer to his or her case,
  • full confidentiality of information entrusted to the Office staff,
  • proposing solutions introduced by the Office in his or her case,
  • talking with a chosen employee of the Office in a separate room.

Depending on an individually chosen form of help, students with disabilities can make use of all the services offered by the OPD.

Persons applying for an assistance from the OPD are obliged to fill out a registration questionnaire as well as to present their current medical documentation confirming their health condition.
