An activity of the University of Warsaw Office for Persons with Disabilities is based on the Regulation no. 1 issued on 31-st January 2001 by Professor Piotr Węgleński, the University Rector. The Office continues an activity of the institution of the Plenipotentiary of the Rector for Persons with Disabilities. The Office has been established because of growing number of students with disabilities and chronic diseases presenting their requests for assistance. This, subsequently, has led to a greater amount of services offered to these students by the University. The Office subordinates to the pro-rector for students affairs, and – in an administration structure – it is subjected to the chancellor.

Tasks of the Office stem from the realization of the program "University for all" as well as from the University Senate resolution issued on 16-th December 2003. The Office activities focus on the following areas:
